Welcome to Christine Marshall Proofreader. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of my services, including all proofreading of court transcripts and any communication or transactions between you (the “Client”) and me, Christine Marshall (“I,” “me,” or “my”). By hiring me for proofreading services, you agree to the following terms and conditions in full.
1. Services Provided
I offer professional proofreading services exclusively for court transcripts and related legal documents. My services include, but are not limited to, reviewing documents for:
- Capitalization
- Punctuation
- Formatting
- Word usage
- Cross-referencing information
- Numbers and numerical consistency
These services are provided with the intention of supporting court reporters, law firms, and courthouses with accurate and reliable transcript proofreading.
2. Turnaround Time & Delivery
I offer three turnaround options:
- Standard: 48–72 hours @ $0.50/page
- Rush: 24–36 hours @ $0.65/page
- Expedited: Under 24 hours (ASAP) @ $0.85/page
Turnaround times are calculated from the moment I confirm receipt of your transcript and all required details. I strive to meet all deadlines, but delays may occasionally occur due to unforeseen circumstances. I will notify you promptly if a delay is anticipated.
3. Payment Terms
Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. I accept payment via PayPal, Zelle, bank transfer, or other methods.
Late payments may incur a fee or result in a temporary suspension of services until payment is made in full.
4. Client Responsibilities
To ensure timely and accurate delivery of my services, I ask that you:
- Provide clean, legible transcripts in a standard format (e.g., PDF).
- Clearly specify any style or format preferences (e.g., Morson’s, court-specific guidelines).
- Indicate any unusual names, terms, or spellings that should be preserved.
- Communicate deadlines accurately at the time of submission.
Incomplete or unclear submissions may delay delivery.
5. Accuracy and Liability
While I make every effort to provide accurate and thorough proofreading, I do not guarantee 100% error-free results. Final review and acceptance of the proofread transcript is the responsibility of the client.
I shall not be held liable for any damages, losses, or claims resulting from the use of any transcript I have proofread, including but not limited to:
- Legal disputes or misinterpretations
- Missed deadlines due to factors outside my control
- Any indirect, special, or consequential damages
6. Confidentiality
I take confidentiality seriously. All documents and communications are handled with the utmost discretion. I do not share, sell, or disclose your content or personal information to third parties. Your work remains your intellectual property at all times.
Confidentiality agreements can be signed upon request.
7. Revisions and Edits
If you find an error or have concerns about a completed transcript, I offer one complimentary revision per project. Please notify me within 72 hours of delivery to request changes.
Additional revisions beyond the first may incur a fee depending on the scope of work required.
8. Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel a proofreading request at any time prior to my confirmation and the start of the project. Once I have begun work, refunds are not available.
If I am unable to complete a project for any reason, a full or partial refund may be issued depending on the progress completed.
9. Intellectual Property
All work submitted to me remains the intellectual property of the client. I do not claim ownership over your transcripts or any content you provide. Proofread content will not be used, copied, or distributed without your permission.
10. Communication
I am available for communication via email at [Insert Email Address] or through my website contact form. I strive to respond promptly during standard business hours. Please allow reasonable time for responses on weekends or holidays.
11. Modifications to Terms
I reserve the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Clients will be notified of significant changes via email or on my website. Continued use of my services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the state of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
